Why phone photos print dark
Your phone screen lights the picture from behind, so it looks bright. On paper there is no light of its own — and phone cameras indoors often take slightly dark photos. Printers, especially black-and-white laser printers in offices and cyber cafés, darken the mid-tones even more. Grey backgrounds, shadows and faces then print as dark grey or black.
Tips for a clean printout
- Take the photo in daylight near a window, without flash glare, holding the phone straight above the page.
- For forms, certificates and notes printed in black and white, choose Document.
- Print the downloaded file at 100% / “actual size”; turn off the printer’s “toner save” mode if text looks faint.
- Need several pages in one file? Make a PDF with JPG to PDF.
